Favorite biscuits? Macarons...of cource!
A macaron is a sweet meringue-based confection made with eggs, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder and food colouring. It is also called Luxemburgerli. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two biscuits. The name is derived from the Italian word macarone, maccarone or maccherone, the Italian meringue.
We discovered these sweet french delicacies in many tumblr pictures some years ago. We loved them from the first moment we saw them. Directly, we searched for the recipe and then made them! They are really delicious! They smell like sugar and almond!
This time we decided to try another recipe. This one is by Sorted! We love these guys! They are absolutely amazing! The recipe was pretty good! Macarons became really delicious! We had, though, some problems with the meringue and the food coloring (as always!). In another post we will show you the recipe we were using till now! This recipe is actually a combination of different recipes or tips we saw on youtube.

Here are some pics of our try:
How to make the little circles: Use a piping bag and make circles of about 3cm diameter. If you don't have a piping bag or something similar, use a spoon! Easy..! We dealt some problems in making the perfect circles! It's kinda useful to design circles with the pencil on the back of the baking sheet! We tried that this time and it really helped!
When you're done with the circles, leave them to cool for an hour! I know that's it's really boring to wait but you should let them rest so that a little skin will be formed on their surface! When you'll touch their surface with your finger, it will come out clear! No pastry on it ;)
Use a good food coloring so that they won't come out brown, as many of ours did! When they start turning brown get them off the oven! Of course, you can overlook the food coloring part if you don't want colorful macarons! Fill them with anything you want, even with fruits! We used appricot jam and merenda! We once had made strawberry and white chocolate ganache. Yum!
Bon appétit!
Love,
