Yan - yans

Hey guys! :)
So this is our first recipe…
We thought of making some sweet crackers, the “Yan- yans”. When we first saw this recipe on: http://spoonforkbacon.com/2012/09/homemade-yan-yans-with-a-trio-of-frosting/ (thank you!), we immediately transported to our childhood when our granny was buying us these sweet sticks that we were dipping them in nutella! So delicious!
Do you remember them?

If you wanna make them and feel again like a child you will need:

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup water

*We used regular butter not an unsalted one and so we reduced the amount of salt.

How to:
- Place all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt) in a mixer and pulse till all the ingredients are mixed well.
- Then, add the butter and mix till all the ingredients are combined. The mixture will have a grainy texture. Don’t panic, you’re on the right way! ;)
- Add slowly the water while mixing, till all the water is incorporated in the mixture.
- Place the dough into a disc, cover it with  plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for an hour, so it’ll be easier to work with it.
- Roll the dough onto a thin surface of about 3 millimetres. Don’t forget to place some flour in the place where you’re rolling the dough as well as on the dough. This will make easier the work for you cause the dough won’t stick to your hands. If the dough doesn’t stick to your hands then you won’t need flour.

- Cut thin strips from the dough and place them in a baking sheet. Previously, place a nonstick paper on the baking sheet.

- Bake till the sticks just begin to brown on the edges. Allow to cool completely!
- Dip them in nutella, jam or frostings of your choice and share it with your friends.

Bon appétit !

Deer kisses,

Evgenia, Sophia, Christina
